Accreditation Manual

ACGC released the revised Standards of Accreditation for Graduate Programs in Genetic Counseling, effective October 1, 2019. For more information, please see the Standards of Accreditation page.

The ACGC Accreditation Manual includes the rules of procedure by which ACGC operates. Policies related to the accreditation process are included in this manual.

To increase efficiency and reduce the oversight burden on programs, the ACGC Board of Directors recently made the decision to eliminate several scenarios for which substantive changes were previously required. Effective September 18, 2022, programs will no longer be required to notify ACGC of the following changes:

  • Change in Established Program Budget
  • Change in Fieldwork Placement and Affiliation Sites
  • Change in Established Program Mission or Goals
  • Change in Curriculum

It should be noted that there is no change to Standard A2.4.2: Program Leadership Personnel Change Policy, which requires programs to notify ACGC in writing at least 30 days prior to commencement of any program leadership change (additions, departures and leaves of absence).
