ACGC Practice Based Competency (PBC) Revision – Public Comment Now Open

The Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) invites the public to provide feedback on the Practice Based Competency (PBC) Revision. A task force appointed by the ACGC has completed its revision of the current Practice-Based Competencies. The ACGC invites public stakeholders to make comments through Friday, September 30, 2022.  A draft of the revised PBCs and a summary of the PBC taskforce methods are available here. Please submit your feedback online here once you have reviewed these documents.

The Genetic Counseling Practice Based Competencies define and describe the practice-based competencies that an entry-level provider must demonstrate to successfully practice as a genetic counselor. The PBCs provide guidance for the training of genetic counselors and an assessment for maintenance of competency of practicing genetic counselors.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
